Kauri Team Museum Trip!

Last Friday, the Kauri team was very lucky as they got to visit the always interesting Auckland Museum! All classes took part in a workshop. As part of this workshop we learnt about how the Maori taught their tamariki. The girls learnt about a weapon called the patu and how it was utilized in a fight. The boys learnt a game that helped with co-ordination. They had to count from 1 to 10, and then back to 1, in Maori and there was an action associated with each number. In the workshop we also learnt a game, called "pukana", where being alert and on-time was important.

After the workshop we had an opportunity to explore all other areas of the museum. We learnt a lot of new information from all different parts of the museum.  Students in Room 20 particularly enjoyed visiting the Volcano Simulator!

Week 10 - Buddy Class!

In Week 10, Room 20 joined their buddy class, Room 12, to do some awesome learning. Our great role models from Room 20 worked with their younger peers from Room 12 on some calendar maths. We looked at how many days it has been since the start of the year and did some addition and subtraction using this value. Great work all!

Week 10 - Garden to Table

In Week 10 for Garden to Table, Room 20 did some awesome gardening and cooking! The gardening team worked on cleaning out weeds and dead roots from plant beds and then re-leveled them. They did all this despite it being a wet day. Well done gardening team!

The cooking team worked very hard to prepare a delicious Indian meal for Room 20. Things they made were potato curry, rice, chappati bread, and raita. Great work kitchen team!
