Last Friday, the Kauri team was very lucky as they got to visit the always interesting Auckland Museum! All classes took part in a workshop. As part of this workshop we learnt about how the Maori taught their tamariki. The girls learnt about a weapon called the patu and how it was utilized in a fight. The boys learnt a game that helped with co-ordination. They had to count from 1 to 10, and then back to 1, in Maori and there was an action associated with each number. In the workshop we also learnt a game, called "pukana", where being alert and on-time was important.
After the workshop we had an opportunity to explore all other areas of the museum. We learnt a lot of new information from all different parts of the museum. Students in Room 20 particularly enjoyed visiting the Volcano Simulator!
